My two girls are battling - building big cage, any other suggestions? (hi by the way!) I have two girls, one is about 2 and a half, and the other just turned two. They've happily lived together for about a year and a half now without issue, the older (Wiggles) growls occasionally (she growls at everything, including her food as she chows down, she's weird) but otherwise, they're happy. They slept together and everything. Now the younger one (Jiggles) is attacking Wiggles. Wig wants nothing to do with this and just tries to run. I have them in a pretty big cage as it is, but am building them a new one tonight using the method mentioned here, with a second deck and everything, hopefully that will make a difference. Is there any other reason Jiggles would suddenly start attacking her? She keeps trying to bite Wig's ear, that's about it, but it's getting aggressive. I thought it was just play at first, but it doesn't seem that way now. I'm going to bathe them tonight before going into the new cage, is there anything else I can do to make them love eachother again?

Re: My two girls are battling - building big cage, any other suggestions? How long as this behavior been happening? When my girls go into heat they tend to get a bit aggressive and will chase, try to mount and a lot of rumblestrutting goes on. There is also the possibility that your pig may have ovarian cysts. Do a forum search for "ovarian cysts" for more info on that.

Re: My two girls are battling - building big cage, any other suggestions? it's been going on about two to three days now. Which would you think has the cysts? This is also the first time this has ever happened in the year and a half I've had them

Re: My two girls are battling - building big cage, any other suggestions? Hormonal imbalance caused by ovarian cysts can make them irritable or cause their heat cycles to go on longer than normal.

Re: My two girls are battling - building big cage, any other suggestions? I think you're right about the ovarian cyst, I've noticed the symptoms now that you mention it, I would have never thought to look before. I have a vet appointment on Thursday, what is the treatment if this turns out to be the case? Are there any risks? Is my Jiggles going to die? I did some searching about the forums and found mostly information about the symptoms, not necessarily the treatment or the risks. I'm probably looking in the wrong direction, any information will be helpful. For now, I divided the cage so my older one has some peace. thanks again, Meg

Re: My two girls are battling - building big cage, any other suggestions? Did you see this link Guinea Lynx :: Ovarian Tumors ? Usual treatment is spay. Find a real good vet/ surgeon who is experienced if you need to have it done. An ultrasound will show if she has cysts. Some people do hormone injections to manage it but you should discuss with your vet if she is a surgery candidate. How old is she?

Re: My two girls are battling - building big cage, any other suggestions? She just turned two. She's not losing hair but is shaped weird I notice, and aggressive in that sense. I'm taking her tomorrow, at least he vet can look at her. Thanks for the help, I'd have never put this together otherwise.
