As some may know I was worried about this school that was getting two pigs as class pets, unfortunatly there was no way to put them off completely so I wrote them a HUGE essay literally on Guinea Pigs and used info from Cavy Spirit (with permission) to put across how complicated they really are for a mother of a children to give to the school and I just got this PM...
"To let you know: I gave a copy of your pack in to the school with my slip agreeing to look after the GPs at weekends if need be.
The following day my daughter came home to tell me: "Mam, my teacher says I need come say "thank you" for the help you gave on Guinea Pigs..." Apparently the school intends using your pack to create "child friendly" laminated booklets from what I can gather. These are to be given to each class in the school (even though it's only Y6 that will look after them...) so that all are clear on their needs to be left alone and not be picked up and handled...
It appears that they "skipped" the bit that said "NOT good for children" BUT
ARE taking note of most that you wrote.
Thinking their "thanks" a tad misguided as I didn't write the pack (though I DID say as much!!) So passing said "thanks" to you...
MY thanks too - I have that pack saved to PC desktop and will SO use it if they decide to take me up on my offer of help.
"
I think its great that information I've learned (much of it via this forum) is being used positively elsewhere, just hope they use it RIGHT.
