Question Twitchy Pig

I just bought a two week old baby. She was very shy at first. but lately has been very twitchy. She'll shake her head and jump very spazticly. She'll run and jump, kicking her hind legs and twisting in the air. It looks like she's having quick little seizures as she runs. I've never seen a guinea pig do that before. Is this normal?

Re: Twitchy Pig

Does she scratch at her ears? If she's shaking her head she could have some sort of ear infection or ear mites.

Re: Twitchy Pig

Call me crazy but that sounds like pop corning to me. Which isn't a bad thing. It means she's happy and is well adjusted.

Though there's nothing wrong with a quick vet check.

Re: Twitchy Pig

It sounds like she's popcorning to me, which is a sign of extreme excitement/happiness.

Re: Twitchy Pig

She may be popcorning but where did you get a 2 week old baby? She isn't of weaning age and should still be with mom.

Is the poor thing housed alone?

Re: Twitchy Pig

Popcorning. I agree, a two week old pup should not be on her own.

Re: Twitchy Pig

Yes, I bought her with her mom. Thanks for all the help. I took care of our bio class guinea pig in high school, but never had one of my own, and I've never seen a guinea pig popcorn before. So I've really been trying to ask a lot of questions and gather all the info so I can care for them properly.

THANKS!!
