Shiverring piggie

I was wondering if there's a link to the different kinds of sounds that guineas make and what they mean?

Right now my piggie is sitting on my lap and she is shiverring like crazy - it's the only way to describe it. She's making lots of little squeaky noises (that sound more happy than distressing). And doing a little purring.

The shiverring is more intense when I pet her, but I also get some happy noises at the same time.

I swear I have more questions about this new guinea than I did about my first child.

Could be purring, which is a sign of a happy and content pig. Vibrating can also be a sign that the pig is cold or in pain -- so just keep an eye on him. You will learn with time what the noises your pig makes means! Just google "guinea pig noises" and some sites will come up, but in the meantime here are a couple sites to get you going: Guinea Pig Sounds or Guinea Pig Sounds

I have a cavy that makes a vibrating, shiver, purr like sound when you pet her against her fur or on her lower half, it is because she doesn't like it.

This sounds like rumble strutting, do they make a deep rumbley sound when they do it? It's to establish dominance, by the way.

That is good to hear. I know when Harry does it Murry runs away and sometimes Harry will follow him but that is about all they do no biting or anything aggressive.
