Father/son always fighting??

January 19th was a great day for me because my two "girl" guinea pigs I bought from a pet store turned out to be sexed wrong and one of them had three beautiful babies. Two girls, and a boy.

Needless to say I separated them before she gave birth so this wouldn't happen again, and after a few weeks, separated the girls with the girls and the boy with his father also.

My only problem is the father and little boy are always fighting. He nips at him and they teeth chatter to no extent. It's nonstop. I mean I've seen them get along, they sleep in the same house sometimes. It's really sweet, actually. But more recently all the father does is want to pick a fight with the little boy. =[

I feel so bad for him, but there is no possible way I can separate them. I have no more room for cages, and I want to think that two guinea pigs who fight is still better then two lonely guinea pigs.

They haven't fought so much as to make each other bleed or anything, I just feel like the little boy must be so upset always being picked on.

I don't know what to do.

How old is dad and son now? What type of cage are they in? It may be too small for two males.

Re: Father/son always fighting??

My best guess for the father is about a year, and the little boy is 3 1/2 months old. They've been living together ever since he was 3 weeks old because I had to separate them.

Also, they were actually living in a 2x3 cage and I knew that was too small so I made it a 2x4. I don't have any room to make it bigger. I figured this was big enough.

It just confuses me why the father just seems to hate the little one.

Re: Father/son always fighting??

I have the same problem so would be interested to hear of any advice. Mine have lived together since the little one was born (as far as I know, they were adopted), but they are always irritating each other. The son provokes the father but the father is the vicious one!
