Unhappy Two Female pig problem's.

We got Ginger a Sister. She is 3 month's old & It was time for them to meet yesterday,All went really really well they were bestfriend's popcorning & playing for 3 hour's.
While they were in the playpen i washed everything & every inch of the cage.
after 3 hour's it was time for them to go in the cage together everything was fine Ginger didnt mind her being in the cage Until Mokka went to eat Ginger didnt want her touching The water bottle, food, hay,Alfalfa,Veggie's nothing,
That's when the chasing began Which wasnt to bad But by the evening Ginger wanted mokka Only in the corner of the cage & wouldnt let her move if she moved she would chase her back, By this morning mokka still hasent gotten to eat or drink, so i took Ginger out to cuddle.
I had to put food in the corner for Mokka because she was to scared to even come out. I put her cage back together & she's happy & eating & sleeping in there. Ginger doesnt seem to care that she's gone. I know if the cage was empty Ginger wouldn't care that she was in there.
I'm going to continue to have playtime since they both enjoyed that.
Can they live in seperate cage's?
Do you think Ginger will ever get over her touching thing's?
Do you think it's because Ginger is 5 month's are matureing?

I was going to leave them but Mokka has to eat she's only a baby.

Here they are in the Playpen Hidey house together.

Re: Two Female pig problem's.

We just went through intro's ourselves. It actually took several days in a neutral spot before I tried putting them in the same cage (I made the mistake of trying them in the cage together, too soon...so had to back up and take a slower approach).

It sounds to me like your girls were getting along better than mine.....up to the part where Ginger would chase Mokka.

My girls have been living together for a week tomorrow. Harmony and Melody still push Hope and Joy around, and chase them occasionally. But they seem to get along otherwise and even eat together...so I think we'll be ok.

I wonder if Ginger is just trying to teach Mokka to remember that she is boss (??). Is it possible for you to take some of the food, and a separate bowl of water and put that over where Mokka is? i.e. feeding her separately. Maybe if Ginger has food to call her own, she won't pay attention to Mokka getting her own food.

Just a thought.

Re: Two Female pig problem's.

How large is your cage? The larger the cage, the more room they have to get out of each others way. You will want to have at least 2 of everything. From what I understand, everytime you seperate them and then put them back together, you are starting over. Bath time together before putting them in a clean cage can sometimes help.

Re: Two Female pig problem's.

The cage is the Alittle bigger than this site says is ok for 2 pig's.There is plenty of room to be on there own.
I put 3 bowl's of food 2 seperate veggie bowl's 2 water bottle's & several spot's of hay.
Ginger will walk up to whatever bowl Mokka eating out of & chase her away.
She even tryed to take a piece of orange out of her mouth.
Before i put them in the cage together Ginger was cleaning Mokka's butt i Thought it was great That she would take over as a mother.
I really hope in the end Ginger will get over it.
