female piggies hitting on each other?

so i bought fiona a friend, amelia, and they finally moved in together a few days ago. for about a week and a half before that i had them in separate cages and would let them have play dates to get to know each other before putting them in the same cage. well, fiona has been kinda a bully to amelia, so last night i tried the "bathe them together so they bond" trick with them, and it seems to have helped. sometimes i find them cuddling together in one of their hidey houses, but other times fiona nips at amelia for seemingly no reason and amelia runs away squealing.

but my main question is.....why does fiona keep walking around the cage slowly, rubbing against amelia, and purring the whole time? she just started this like yesterday, and my first thought was, "well, what if one of them isn't actually a girl?" but i know i've double and triple checked to make sure they are both girls, and they are. amelia doesn't seem to be fazed by fiona's purring acts, but it's weird. i've seen male guinea pigs do this to each other in pet stores as well. what's up with all the purring and rubbing against each other?

Re: female piggies hitting on each other?

It's the same as with the males. Fiona is showing that she is the dominant pig. It's called rumblestrutting. So, no worries, it's all normal.
