6 month and a 12 month together?

There is an offer for a free male Cavy that is 6 months old and I was wondering if you think he might get along with my 1 year old male? Here is all the info that I know right now about him from the craigslist ad
6 month old male guinea pig....FREE TO A GOOD HOME!!!! He is very sweet and loves to be held. Loves to run around.

I am looking for a friend for Harry (my Cavy) and was hoping this one might work.

They may get along great. It's often hard to tell unless you try and see the other pig's personality compared to yours but it helps to have a large enclosure and at least 2-3 of everything in the cage.

My origional piggy is about the same age as the baby, and I adopted 1 and 2 year old boars from craigslist. They all get along great, but I also believe it depends on the personalities. Ziggy, the youngest, is pretty dominant, but the others were so big all is efforts kinda fell on deaf ears. It only took a couple of nips from the big guys for him to realize his place and I haven't had any problems since. Just make sure you introduce them very carefully, and make sure you have a big cage. I would recomend the cage size for three pigs just to be on the safe side.

Sorry for the double post but I would also recomend lots of hideys with more than one entrance/exit. that way they don't get trapped in one and fight because of that! Good luck.

Thanks for the replies! I have a 2 x 4 C&C cage right now bet thinking of making it a 3 x 4 or a 2 x 5 but plan on making it bigger if I get the second piggy. I have the perfect size hidey that will work for 2 pigs and I can make a second entrance or exit also.

I would recommend having at least two seperate hideys. They may not like to cuddle at first, being men and all . Eventually that might work out as mine do, but it is best if they have somewhere to get away from eachother at first. Cage sounds good though. My boys are in a 3X5, but there is 3 of them. I would look for a younger guinea pig, better 2, because I think they can get in trouble if both are equal strong.

What about looking for an older boar, one older than yours? That way they both already went through puberty.

sounds good to me! So far none in my area at shelters and after all the talk on here don't want to get one from Pet store! Will keep looking but going to get my Harry a buddie as soon as I can.
