| Re: Introducing dog to pigs? I have 7 pigs and 2 dogs and 2 cats. I have floor time in my kitchen. At first I would shoo the dogs outside during floor time, but when it got winter time last year I started introducing the dogs to them. I would sit in the kitchen and the dogs would come sit by me or smell the pigs. After a few days they pretty much lost interest in them. My cats did the same thing. When the pigs are having floor time, I always make sure I can see when the cats and dogs go in the pig's space and keep an eye on them. I don't think the dogs or cats would hurt them, but I'm always on the alert just in case. My cages also have lids on them for when we're not in the room or gone. I love my dogs and cats, but they are hunters and need to be treated as such. |

| Re: Introducing dog to pigs? My 3 year old APBT is obsessed with the pigs. She is great with cats, but she definately has the hunting instinct with the pigs. I do not let her around them. My pigs are pretty new still, maybe over time she will get used to the smells, but i'd still probably not let her ly with them or anything. BTW she thinks she is a 4# min pin as this is what she grew up with along with cats, so she really doesn't know her size either. |
