clippers that sense the quick?

Not sure if 'sense' is the word that was used in the ad. I was looking in cat magazine. They had clippers that would stop cutting when it got near the quick. I am not sure actually if they cut or grinded the nail down. I will have to look again. Anyone try these?

Re: clippers that sense the quick?

I haver never heard of this, but it sounds kind of freaky, not safe. I have a cat, and I know that their nails shouldn't be cut down to the quick because they mostly walk on their toes and nails. Not to mention it would be uncomfertable(sp?) wouldn't it?

Re: clippers that sense the quick?

I saw a commercial (not infomercial) on Animal Planet channel this morning that was this "wand" type thing (sort of reminded me of a big ol' theraputic type massage wand) that has areas that you file down the pet's nails, one at a time, instead of clipping them. The filing part was kept inside so fur apparently doesn't get caught, and the filing trims the nail smooth instead of a flat/sharp-edged surface as with clipping.

It was the first time I'd seen this commercial. I want to say it might have been called peticure. Oh yes, it was (just looked for it on google) The commercial plays on their website if watching it is desired.

Anyway, just wanted to mention it. No clue if it is good/bad, just sharing what I saw on TV.

I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about... but we have animal nail clippers that are supposed to prevent you from cutting the quick, but it basically looks like scissors with a shield on one side. (so that the nail can't slide in too far I guess.)
