What do you do when only 1 pig remains?

Me and a friend were talking the other day and were wondering what to do when there is only 1 surviving piggy left from a herd and the owner is not in a position to get more piggies. This is not my circumstance. I have three alive and healthy piggies. I was just curious. Do you give the piggy to a shelter so that it can be around other piggies? Or is it best to leave them at home in their familiar surroundings for the remainder of their life? I know they must get sad and lonely being all alone. But will they they feel like this forever even if you give them lots of attention? This breaks my heart just thinking about it. But I know there must be people out there that just aren't able (financially, emotionally, etc) to get more piggies. I would hate to just give my last piggy away, but if it's the best thing to do...

Hmm...I don't think that there is really I right or a wrong answer here because you want to do what is best for the piggie. Is the pig old? I will assume he/she is if the rest of the heard has died already. So, I think your friend should watch your piggie carefully while he goes around doing his daily life(munching hay, or whatever he might do during the day) and see how happy he seems to be. Because he is an older pig, I would suggest not giving him up unless he is very listless and sad, because that would be so stressful on him/her. If the piggie is young, then it really depends on how happy he is and how much time your friend can give the pig. If your friend can give the pig lots of play time, then the pig may be just as happy when they had friends. Hope this helped!

It isn't my friends piggy either. It's a hypothetical question. Just wondering. Thank you for your reply though. That was very good advice.
