Re: Looking for a Guinea Pig Breeder

Definatly adopt one!! You would be saving a life, donating to a shelter, and best of all you'll always have your pig in your heart. Its way cheapier!!

Re: Looking for a Guinea Pig Breeder

Well here's an update. I emailed both places and one of them said Frank and Ross were adopted last week. I was a little bummed by that but found out that Leela and Lexus are still available and I was approved for their adoption. I told my dad but he wants me to try another shelter more locally. So, I am still interested in adopting them but am going to be looking at some more local shelters first.

The operative word in Buscuit's response is "herd". Can you take all four? They would need to be kept separate, but what a great little family!!

Re: Looking for a Guinea Pig Breeder

I am only planning on getting two. I just posted both of those in petfinder because I was interested in both sets.

Leela and Lexus are adorable. That is so awsome of Critter Connection to sell the C&c cages, since you can get one while picking up your new pet, more people will be open to using them. That is so awsome.

I noticed that too when I was looking at them. That's great.

Re: Looking for a Guinea Pig Breeder

I live near Boston so I can help you out a bit. There is the MSPCA in Boston, Methuen, Brewster, and other places throughou tthe state. There are local adoption agencies all over.
Petfinder is also very good! There may be some ads on this site in the area of where you are to help you find a pig!
I cannot think of any rescues that are in MA. But I will look, and post if I find some.
Good Luck With Your Pig Search!

*Found one! Guinea Pig Home Listings - Ashlei Rescue
I have never dealt with them, bu tI have heard of them. Maybe you can give them a call?
Hope this helps!

Re: Looking for a Guinea Pig Breeder

Thanks a lot. I will look into that. I was also thinking about visiting the Boston or Brockton MSPCA. I've almost finished setting up their cage and not to act so proud but I think it's coming out great. I added a second level and bought a hay roller. I also made a house for them and will be returning the hut because people have told me it is not healthy for them. Tomorrow I am going to make them a hammock as well. I'll post some pictures in the guinea pig cage forum when I get them.

Re: Looking for a Guinea Pig Breeder

I also posted this in a new thread in this forum but thought I would let everyone know that I adopted two female pigs today INSTEAD of buying any from a pet store:
On the spur of the moment I went to The MSPCA in Springfield and adopted two bonded guinea pigs. I held both of them and neither of them squirmed out of my hands or bit me. They are already doing great and are eating the veggies I made for them. They haven't discovered the second level I made for them yet. Boy are they going to be surprised. I'll get some pictures as soon as they settle in. Can I post them here or is their another forum to post guinea pig pictures? I haven't fully decided on names but am leaning towards Addison and Andie.

Thanks for all the great advice everyone. I also saw a single male who I really connected with but he can't go with the sows. He came right up to the cage and everything. I was thinking about possibly adding on to my cage so I could get him but I'm just worrying about satisfying the sows for right now
