Abbysian size?

Both or our piggies are abbys, but they're only 7-9 months old. I was wondering if anyone has adult abbys, how big do they get? Ive seen other types of guinea pigs get pretty big but I haven't seen to many really big abbysians. Also any other abbysian facts would be appreciated.

Re: Abbysian size?

I have an abby, I've actually known abbys to be chunkier then other breeds. Your pigs probably won't reach full growth until a little over a year. That seems to be when mine all stopped growing and gaining weight. But also saying they are chunky, they don't necessarily have to be. Every pig is different.

Also, abbys tend to be a little more... rambunctious than other breeds except maybe texels. Most of the real ones that I've seen have been total spazes. But there are always exceptions. And by real ones, I mean when the mom and dad/grandparents were also abbys. I'm not sure what is up with that though.

Re: Abbysian size?

I have 2 abys (1y/o and 3y/o) and 2 cresteds (1y/o and 3y/o).

My abys are both 2.5lbs and the cresteds are 3lbs.

Re: Abbysian size?

My Abby is very small and skinny compared to my other pigs, but that might be particular to him, as he's quite sickly, and had a bad life prior to being rescued.
He also has very bad allergies and an extra toe on his back feet, so maybe his small size can be attributed to bad breeding?

As far any other Abby facts, I've had many people tell me that they tend to be a little more headstrong or awkward than other breeds.
That's definately true of mine, he's the grumpiest, most awkward little pig I've ever come across!
