Pigs on TV

Has anyone seen the Guinea Pigs on Big Brother? The one contestant Sharon is in love with them. They have a Plexiglass cage that has tunnels that go from one cage to another and I think into a back room where you can't see.
They are cute! They put them on the interview couch. They showed them making pig noises and CBS put subtitles. They don't show them often enough to see how many cages they have or whats in them. They like to zoom in on their faces and them chewing. A lot of lip shots, We all love pig lips.

Sharon is really cute with them. She calls them "friends". I think because they didn't tell her their names. She said she feeds them before she feeds herself. They respond to her and come over when she talks to them. I saw one do a huge popcorn while she was talking to him.It was so cute!
She looks like a true pig lover at heart. Both pigs were in the corner of the cage. You could see sharons face and about a 1/4 of the cage.
Joshaua rolls his eyes and calls them hamsters. Uneducated, non-piggie loving human! He makes fun of how Sharon talks to them and imitates her behind her back. He has commentary like I can't believe she feeds them before she eats.
Personally my pigs always eat first. They insist on it, They wheek and look at me like oh please mom I'm starving!!! I can't help it.

It seems that Sharon and Joshaua mimick real life. You have people that love pigs. I mean just love them. Talk to them, feed them, give them stuff including a large budget for pig things. Then you have other people that roll their eyes and say its just an animal whats the big deal.

Re: Pigs on TV

I hate that they have very little ventilation in those cages.

But the tunnel part is really neat (even though, again, no ventilation).

It looks like there are 2 different cages they can go into through the tunnels.

I am definitely thinking that Big Brother will give Sharon the guinea pigs to take home with her when the show is over (maybe at the finale show or something).

And she calls them her "FURR-RENDS". Hehe. Cuteness. She does seem to love them. Maybe I can myspace her the guineapigcages.com website for her to learn more about them?

Great Idea. I don't have myspace. I bet she would love the site. I think the tunnels have big holes in the sides. It is so hard to get a decent view.

I didn't see the bananas. Wonder what they have in the back room? The tunnel goes into the wall. They hay might not look "pretty for TV".
We could send CBS some proper GP care info.

Re: Pigs on TV

Haha. Cute. But those cages definitely aren't good.

Is the cage and the pigs there just for the show? Or are they actually Sharons'? And I wonder what the rest of the cage looks like too....

The pigs belong to CBS. The cages are just there for the show. I am not sure if the pigs are in the "house" all the time or not. It looks like one of the tunnels goes into a back room. I hope they give the pigs to Sharon. She loves them so much. I wonder if CBS even had a plan for the pigs when the show is over?

Re: Pigs on TV

I just sent them a message from the feedback form you gave me. Thanks for that.

Here is what I wrote.... (keep in mind I wrote it quickly at work and probably missed some things, but here goes)

This request is about your guinea pigs in the "Big Brother" house. First I want to say that I love the show and watch it religiously and have been a big fan of the show for many seasons now. I was very happy to see guinea pigs in the house this season, because I actually own four guinea pigs. My only request is that when I see the feeds or the show, I never see the proper food items for the guinea pigs. Guinea pigs need unlimited grass hay (such as Timothy or Orchard Hay) to help them to grind down their teeth and it is a large part of their diet. I also have noticed the nice cage you keep them in, which are a decent size and the tunnels were a GREAT idea, yet I must admit that my first concern is the ventilation for the piggies. Aquariums and plexiglass are not the best options for guinea pigs. I also would like to mention that I hope that both guinea pigs are the same sex so that they are not reproducing/breeding. The guinea pigs are SO adorable and it is especially cute to see that Sharon in the house is so attentive to them. It's good to see that someone is taking care of them and shows them attention. My only request is that you please add grass hay (preferably Timothy hay) to the cage and also make sure that there are holes or better ventilation for the cage (unless there already is and I have missed it). Again, I must mention that I am happy to see guinea pigs on one of my favorite shows. It is noticeable that someone is taking care of them, cleaning their cage, etc. And again, I LOVE the tunnel aspect and it looks as though it leads into maybe another part of the cage which means they have room to exercise which is great. Maybe you will read this and dismiss me as some "crazy guinea pig lady", but I am just a big fan of the animals and know (from having my own) how much attention and love they need like any animal. Please take these things into consideration. If you ARE interested in learning more information about guinea pigs please refer to www.guineapigcages.com. I would also like to request that the guinea pigs be given to Sharon at the end of the show since they are her "FURRRENDS", afterall.
Thanks for reading this and am looking forward to the rest of the season!
A fan of the show (and guinea pigs),
K. Austin Singleton

That's a really good letter. I think it is good since you are being so nice about it and not jumping all over them and they will be more willing to read it.
