Moving to Marietta/Atlanta, Ga...need recomedations So, I'm moving to Marietta, Ga in about a month. I looked on the Oxbow site and there's nowhere there that sells their products. Is this true? If so, does anyone know of a local place I can buy hay? Is there a pet store in the Marietta area that doesn't sell pets in case I need supplies? I know that I can order online, but if I don't have to that would be wonderful. Also, I would love to know of a good cavy savy vet in the area. Even if it's in the Atlanta area that would be ok just in case.

Re: Moving to Marietta/Atlanta, Ga...need recomedations Well I live in Douglasville so am sort of close. We go to a great vet in Decatur called For Pets Sake that are entirely for birds and small animals, they sell oxbow hay and pellets and also a wide variety of great animal products, its about a 40 min trip from Marietta. Hope this helps.

Re: Moving to Marietta/Atlanta, Ga...need recomedations Sorry for the double post but I thought I should add that they are a little pricier than other local vets but the service was fantastic and the aftercare we received when we got Fidget (rabbit) spayed was amazing, they really went out of the way and we were able to talk to the vet on the phone without any problems. I can't say how they are with guinea pigs as we currently haven't had any but all the reviews I read about them remarked how good they are with all the small animals they see. The Rabbit Society also uses them for spays/ neuters and when a rabbit is sick. I can't say for sure if the Oxbow is expensive at the vets because I have yet to see it anywhere else in the Atlanta area or check online prices. We bought a 40 oz bag for $13 which though more expensive than pet store bags the same weight is obviously better quality. Just avoid an appointment at rush hour!! Instead of taking my husband 45 mins to get their it took nearly 2 hours.

Re: Moving to Marietta/Atlanta, Ga...need recomedations I know Dr. Ella Ahearn is popular with Atlanta-area GLers. Don't know if she's at the vet mentioned above. If you have a GL account, you may want to email brandilynn for suggestions.

Heres the 'website' not very informative ![]() Animal Hospital of Sandy Springs :: Offering veterinary medical & surgical services, grooming & boarding for dogs, cats and small mammals. I would be interested in knowing how they were with rabbits if I ever wanted a second opinion on something. It is apparently only 22 mins from Marietta so a bit closer to your new home willow. Let me know how it goes with your new vet whoever you choose! |
