2-Toned coats [pigtures]

I have a Self Buff (I think that's her 'official' breed name...) and she seems to have darker, almost golden, fur in winter and almost white fur in the summer.

Well, it's spring now and she seems to be at a half way point, :

It's not too visible in these phone camera pictures but she has a band of whiteish fur around her rump.

Here is an older one for comparison:

Does this usually happen with Selfs?

Yes. It is normal for them to change colors. Very cute!

I wouldnt say normal, but I wouldnt say it is something to worry about unless she is actually loosing hair. Her coat does look a bit patchy in the top photo - which may indicate mites or something. My Buttercup is a tad lighter than your girl at her darkest point and never changes her colour.

I thought that it was normal for them to sometimes change colors as they get older. I have heard that somewhere before I think...

I had no idea they could change colors like that. That is really neat. A very pretty piggy!

Well she has a very boisterous personality and occasionally gets into scuffles because of their pecking order shifts.

In the last photo you can see quite a chunk of fur taken out of her mid back. It's grown back but with the addition to all the other bite marks and hair loss patches its made her coat quite uneven in places. She doesn't seem to scratch much but I'll keep an eye on her and check for mites just in case.

Thank you both.

I was was following her around the outside pen trying to get good pictures that day and she got a bit fed up of it and went into one of her moods. Her expression is priceless here :
