Pink pee

Hi there, Today has been a very hot day so i decided to let my boar cool off in some water. while getting ready i noticed he passed urine that was pink. Im thinking there is a tinge of blood within the urine. Is this a UTI? he did not squeal when he passed urine.

Any ideas?

Re: Pink pee

Could be something he's eaten (for example beetroot makes me pee pink!). The fact he didn't squeak when passing urine is good. I'm no expert, but I would say keep a close eye on him, if you can keep him on some white towels or fleece, that way you can see what he's peeing. Also post this on Guinea Lynx as well. If he carries on peeing pink I'd get him to a vet, just in case.

Re: Pink pee

Blood in the urine is often a sign of UTI or bladder stones. The pig definately needs to get to a vet for a urinalysis and possible x-ray.

Re: Pink pee

Has he eaten a lot of carrots or anything like that lately? That can also change the color. If he hasn't than I think a vet visit is in order.

Re: Pink pee

Definitly take him to the vet. That can be pretty serious if not treated.

Re: Pink pee

I would still take him to the vet to be 100% sure. My girl had pink pee while she had a UTI and needed medication, they also found she had high sugar in her urine too.

Re: Pink pee

I would take her to a vet just to be sure.

I would, so I can rest assured that I am doing what I can to make sure the animal is healthy
