| My daughter and I recently bought a guinea pig. We had him for two weeks and then he became sick and passed away last saturday. I am definetly planning on getting another one (never thought I would love one), but I am a little gun-shy now. I'm so scared that we will get another one and have the same thing happen. We have a book on raising and care of quinea pigs, but it seems there is so much to know. Does anyone have any suggestions for us to better prepare for another pig or two? Thanks for your input. | Re: Piggy info do not get one from a pet store.the conditions that the so called breeders keep them in are a breeding ground for many diseases that you cannot see until it is too late.look at shelters the newspaper or craigslist. |

| Re: Piggy info I'm sorry about your guinea pig! You should get one from a shelter, since there are so many out there without homes. And get two, since pigs like to be together instead of alone. Good luck! |
