Thirsty Piggers?

Starting this afternoon, it seems that suddenly all six of our piggers are thirstier than usual. They've been taking non-stop turns at the water bottle, which isn't typical of them. Other than that, they're acting normal, eating, etc. Does anyone have any ideas on what might cause this or if they're just being weird?

Any change in the temperature in the house? I notice my girls drink more when it's warmer in the house than when it's cooler.

Sometimes pigs do things for strange reasons. They could have been just playing.

The temperature is the same as usual, maybe a bit cooler if anything. They seem to have settled down a bit. One of our girls, Tilly, sometimes will hit the water bottle off and on all afternoon. I think she's playing with it when she does it, or maybe is doing it because she's bored. She'll do this for weeks on end, and then not at all for a few months, then it starts up again (drives my poor husband up the wall!). Today for some reason they're just all joining in! Maybe they want to look "cool" for her?

I'll make sure to keep an eye on them for any other unusual behaviors. I think they're probably just being weird though.

My pig Ruby does this from time to time. She manages to soak their kitchen area. In her case I'm pretty sure she's playing.

Funny, one of my girls had a day like this recently and I started a thread because I was worried too. After that day she went back to business as usuall. GPs are weird...

Yep, this morning everything seems to be back to normal. Piggers are so silly! The husband is relieved to have the house semi-quiet again.

Haha, that sounds like my girlfriends males. They tend to do it as a way of saying, "HEY, we're out of hay over here." And man, do they love their hay. They get as much as they want and it will all be gone in about 15 minutes. And we can't give them more hay because they still have a store bought crate( working on moving up to a 3x4).

Mine has been doing the same thing! One day she's constantly at the water bottle. In fact, she drained half of it in one day. The next day she didn't drink a drop. Three days later I catch her actually playing with the ball in the sipper part. She looked at me like "oops you caught me!". She hasn't done it at all this week.

Piggies are a definite breed all their own.
