More piggies?

So we've had our two girls for about three months now. I adore them! We started off rather small, cage wise (I went off the dimensions on this site and by recommendation from the cavy rescue), a 2x3 cc cage with loft. We've learn a lot about the ladies and I'm pretty much their slave now.

We have recently upgraded their cage a little:

We are also working on finishing up an additional area under the table, below the cage. It will have a ramp to the floor (which they already tried out and love), with a 3x3 gridded area down there. They will have access to this area full time too.

I am really feeling the need to get a couple more girls now that we have more room. I assume this will be enough for 4 females? I have already been drooling over a couple of young girls in rescue too.

I just have to twist my hubby's arm a bit more.

My girls are about 9 and 14 months old. I imagine the rescue girls are similar in age. What is the likelihood they will all get along? My two girls met each other in rescue and instantly bonded. Could I be so lucky with a group of 4?

We both have good jobs, take our pets to the vet regularly and give all our pets the best quality care. The only problem is, I can't seem to say no to rescues. I already have 2 bunns and 20 rats in addition to our piggies (not to mention the cat and dog). This is not a financial hardship. And I think now that we have a bigger area for the piggies, not a space hardship either (though space is definitely running out here ).

I would like some advice of others here that may have had 2 piggies, but added more. Other than the obvious additional vet bills and cost of food....is it that much more work to care for 2 more? We already clean cages all the time.

Thank you
Debbie, Harmony and Melody

Re: More piggies?

The only difference I saw when I went from 2 to 4 (then up to 9) was more fun, more wheeking, more running around, and perhaps a few more beans. It was worth it. Overall, they just seem happier. I'd highly* recommend getting 2 more!
