Careless Testing each other ??

I have two girls, one is 1 years old (Tallulah )and the other will be 1 on the 11th April this year (Gypsey). Tallulah has always been boss despite Gypsey being the most out going of the two, and Tallulah was here first.

I saw in the first few months Tallulah mounting Gypsey now and then. For quite a while now though there have been no problems apart from Tallulah and Gypsey getting in each others way.

For the past few days though I have noticed them chasing each other more and Gypsey attempting to push Tallulah to her limits by following her an nudging her. There hasn't been any fighting or mounting that I have seen and definatly no blood just alot of pestering.

I was wondering if this was normal about this age for Gypsey to try and become boss all of a sudden? At first I thought Tallulah was ill and getting aggitated easily but closer inspection showed a normal Tallulah and a much more pushing-the-limits-Gypsey.

They are getting food etc fine, it's nothing I'm worrying about too much and will let them get on with it aslong as they aren't doing it to a serious blood drawing point, just wanted to know if there was anything I could do or if it was perfectly normal? There is hay is random places around, two water bottles, one food bowel (but they dont eat at the same time usually), and enough to do in the cage. The cage is a 7x4.

Thanks!

Re: Testing each other ??

If Gypsie was a baby when she was introduced to Tallulah, then she is now being a regular teenager, and trying to be a bit bossy. Of course, if it gets really bad(biting or blood) then you may have to seperate them for a little while.
Wow, I wish I had enough room for a 7x4 cage! Lucky pigs! Hopefully with such large space, they will get away from each other if they feel like it/need a break from one another.

Re: Testing each other ??

When they were introduced it was in the bath and Tallulah was about 2 months old and Gypsey about 1 month. There was no problems when first introduced infact they shared hidey houses for the first week or so.
I'm going to keep a close eye on them and split them up if there is anymore problems. Thanks for the reply!

I wouldn't split them up unless one draws blood. They will work it out.
