Careless My Brush Is Not Working Very Well...

I have been grooming my pig, and all of a sudden, the brush is not doing the job as well as it used to.

I still grooming him the same amount of times as I always did. Like when he gets little hay pieces all over him. I have to go over him about 15x to get it off!

His brushes are clean, free of hair, etc...

I use a baby brush. (A little one, and it is a medium, stiff, soft brush).

Does anyone have any grooming supplies that they recommend?

All input is appreciated.

Re: My Brush Is Not Working Very Well...

I use a slicker especially made for guinea pigs.

EDIT: I have heard that some people use toothbrushes.

Re: My Brush Is Not Working Very Well...

I use a comb brush to go over them after I use the soft brissle brush. The comb works great, especially on my long haired girl. It makes her fur nice and soft and straight!

My pig is a short haired. If you can include the name of it, or a link, that would be fantastic!

Re: My Brush Is Not Working Very Well...

Oh I just use a regular comb brush like one for a human, you know the flats one and it looks like it has teeth or something? And it works great on my short haired piggies too!

Do you wash the brush at all? It could be possible that there is a build up of grease, making it less effective.

I wash it. I soak it in warm water and a mild mix of soap. Then I rinse it out. It is spotless!

I just checked it and it is not greasy at all.

What is it that you'd like to hear? I have a "self-cleaning" pet brush that I got from Target.

I think that the baby brush is fine just as long as oyu keep it clean.

Re: My Brush Is Not Working Very Well...

I use a pet brush/comb that helps take out the loose hair. It's for all animals. It has very small teeth and it really works well.
