Question Bedding

I am wondering why I see so much fleece for cages now. I tryed changing my c&c cage and using fleece instead last night loved the idea and their paws were full of poo and so was the entire blanket I used. I would love to find something for bedding besides the stuff I was using(recycled bedding) that dosent have an intense odor to it(like some bedding does) anyone have any suggestions?

Re: Bedding

Maybe were you using the fleece wrong? Was it wicking? What did you have as underbedding?

Hello, I was using 1 reg thin fleece on top and another thicker fleece on bottom. I thought it looked so pretty till this morning,..when there was poo everywhere. I found another thread for this same thing and think I am going to get some carefresh instead. The fleece looks great but alot more maintance it seems than reg bedding,.I was thinking about maybe doing it half ,half on bottom. I will leave the fleece on top(like it better).

Re: Bedding

Thats the problem, you were using the fleece wrong. You should had had 1 layer of fleece and then 3-4 layers of an underbedding that is absorbant such as towels. Also if it was new fleece it would had needed to be washed & dryed 3-4 times before it would work, also it would had needed to be washed without fabric softener. Have you read through this? http://www.guineapigcages.com/forum/...ect-study.html

Also, there is going to be poo everywhere unless you litter train your piggy which is near impossible. You just have to scoop it out everyday.

Re: Bedding

You have to scoop/vacuum out poop everyday. EVERYDAY. Preferably twice a day.

Re: Bedding

I prefer seeing the poops (on fleece) so I know it needs cleaning, instead of it hiding in shaving etc.
