I'm so glad to hear this! Every once in awhile, I hear a rumbling, then a little 'poof'! I thought something was wrong cause I didn't know they farted! Ohh, that's priceless! It's sooo funny!

Ok, I was in fits of hysterics earlier. Ruby pig did the loudest fart - goodness knows WHERE it came from. She completely out did my dog. Up until that point I'd never heard a guinea pig fart...

Giorgi hasn't blessed me with any toots yet, but Aleris.. the nekkid rattie boy that free ranges... hopped up on my shoulder the other night, for his frequent kissy visits, and he let one rip right in my face. LOL My head whipped around so fast, I almost caused him to fall off my shoulder... and he was lookin' back at me like, "I sowwy Muh, but butt tooted... sowwy.. " I had no idea they could fart.


...fortunately, they're small and there's little to no smell involved.

Ok, it's not just me going crazy! I did a search to see if guinea pigs really do audibly fart and found this thread.

A few weeks ago we could swear we heard a toot from the cage. My boyfriend and I looked at each other wondering if we really heard what we thought we heard. Then today I was sitting on the computer, next to their cage and I heard it again. I'm not sure which of the 3 is the culprit, but I'm putting my money on Ethel. I guess it makes sense since all they eat is roughage!

I hope mine farted this afternoon!

I was holding him, and about to wipe his butt with mineral oil for his weekly cleaning- when OOPS a little poop slid right out! Shortly after that I heard a little sound, almost like faintly taking air out of a balloon, for about 2 secs. I was worried at first it might be gurgling, but I only heard it once and have only heard it that one time!

He doesn't seem bloated or tender around his belly.

Silly pigs.

My Gizzy pig farted before, I thought it was my kids blaming him for thiers but they swore it was Gizzy! I heard it too but thought it was my little girl since it was so loud, so still the mystery of the fart goes on..LOL!

I think I heard my pig pass gas before. I must have been in complete denial that my piggy would pass gas.

Elise is the farting queen. She sprawls out on me and just lets them rip. She's quite the nasty little thing and doesn't care where she poops, pees or toots.
