| Question about Neutering Ok so I found the most PERFECT and Adorable guinea pig! I want him so badly. The problem is that I now own a female and he is a male that is not neutered. So my question is, is it a pain to neuter your pig? is it risky? expensive? does it hurt them? do they need recovery time? is it worth doing or should I let this perfect pig go and look for a female? thanks. |

| Re: Question about Neutering There are risks with any type of invasive procedure/surgery. He would need to be kept away from the female for 3 weeks in order for the sperm to die off. Yes, it hurts them but good vets will provide a day or two's worth of pain medication for post-op recovery. As far as cost, call the vets in your area and see if they have experience in neutering piggies and how much they charge. Prices vary greatly. |
