Week 5 update!

Nibbler (Mama) is healthy, happy, and being a good mama to her pups! It is now 5 weeks after the birth of her 3 pups and all is well!

Marshmallow (left) and Cookie (right) are the girls born to Nibbler. Now at 5 weeks they are no longer nursing and are growing like crazy. Marshmallow weighed in at 3.0 ounces the day after birth, and is now a whopping 11.2 ounces. Cookie weighed in at 3.2 ounces the day after birth and is now 12.3 ounces.
Marshmallow is a mama's girl. She is always found with in a popcorn distance from mama! Cookie spends her days running up and down the ramp and popcorning around the main level of the cage.
Cocoa, the only boy born to Nibbler, has been seperated into his own side of the cage for two weeks now. He is a little lonely, but getting a lot of human attention. He is enjoying the freedom of roaming his own cage and hanging out in and under his new hammock! Cocoa weighed in at 3.2 ounces the day after birth, and is now a strapping 11.6 ounces.

All the babies are growing very quickly and will hopefully ge in a free range area by the time Cocoa is neutered and ready to be reunited with the girls! There area is under construction and will be approx. 8 ft. by 8 ft.! Hopefully this area will be ready by June or July! It is an area in my kitchen that is currently used for storage and is being emptied to make room for the piggies!

Sorry for the long post! I just wanted to share the updated pigtures of my babies!

Oh they are gorgeous! I will be in a similar situation in a few weeks so I love looking at babies at the moment. Can't wait till I have some sweet little ones like yours.

I am keeping the boy! He is currently seperated from the girls and mama, but he will be able to be reunited with them in a few months, 3 weeks after he gets neutered.

They are so cute. Don't they grow at an amazing speed? My little Token is a week older than your babies and we swear we can see her grow.

Thanks for the update and the pics.

Re: Week 5 update!

They are adorable. Our Emily just had leap year babies and I think we have a boy and a girl. I'm in the same boat, trying to decide if I should keep them both or not. How is Cocoa dealing with his separation and how big of an area did you put him in?

Cocoa is doing just fine! I think he is taking the seperation better than we are! LOL!

He is in a 1x5 at the moment, but that is only for a few months. I wish I could make it bigger, but I don't have the room at the moment!

I am working on cleaning out part of the kitchen for a new cage for all of them to go into after his surgery. They will have an 8x8 free range area to live in! So, I am not to worried about a few months in a 1x5, especially because he is just a baby and is not very big yet!

Re: Week 5 update!

You probably already know this, and I am sure the vet will tell you, but you'll need to keep Cocoa separated for at least another few weeks after his operation as it can take a while for him to be infertile.

Yes, Clotho told me that a while back. Thank you though! I believe I was told to keep them seperate for 3 weeks after the surgery! I have a few months before we can take him in for surgery, so a few more weeks after won't hurt anything!

Oh good. It would NOT be funny for you if you'd gone to all the trouble and expense to neuter him and then have surprise babies!

Re: Week 5 update!

What a lovely little family. I love little Marshmellow!

Here's hoping the next couple of months breeze by for little Cocoa and he's reunited with his family soon. Hey, since they will have such a huge home one day, maybe you could adopt another little baby boy and have them both neutered at the same time.

From what I have read you can only have one neutered male to 4 or 5 females. If I get another neutered male then I will have to get 4 or 5 more females and my Hubby will KICK ME OUT! LOL
