A Couple Questions

Well I've been really curious what breeds and colors my two guinea pigs would be considered as. i bought them at a small pet shop 5 years ago so i don't know much about their background. Their names are Smoothie and Dusty. I have no idea why i named her smoothie but like i said, i got them 5 years ago. they both hate cucumbers...

Dusty:

Smoothie:

If you could please tell me the breed and color each guinea pig would be considered as I'd really appreciate it.

Also if you would like to see more pictures just ask.

Re: A Couple Questions

I am not exactly sure about them, but they are both non-self pigs. Non self means they are more than one color. Not a solid color.

Re: A Couple Questions

By the way, do you ride horses? Just curious because your name has to do with them.

Re: A Couple Questions

I am pretty sure a pig is a breed and a variety. So my Rosie is an abby brindle, Toffee a rex dutch etc.

So going on that theory - Dusty looks like an american silver/grey agouti. I am not sure what variety Smoothie is. I am thinking either a roan or a broken. She is an american (breed).

Re: A Couple Questions

Every pig is a breed and a variety (color).

Dusty appears to be an american silver agouti like pigsforlife stated but to me Smoothie looks like an american/silkie cross. How long is her hair?

Re: A Couple Questions

I was trying to work out how long her hair was but decided she was an american in the end. A picture of her whole body may help here.

What variety do you think she is Ly?

Re: A Couple Questions

I love both of them. Dusty looks a little like an american but im not really sure at all. he has similar features to my guinea pig Honey and she is american so thats my guess. =)

Re: A Couple Questions

sorry i took so long for me to reply i've been really busy.

since smoothie hates standing still i can never get a good picture so i decided to get a video instead

Don't worry they usually have their little igloos in the cage we were getting ready to clean the cage and smoothie, being the little princess she is, did not want to leave.

Thanks so much for all the comments.

Re: A Couple Questions

She definately looks mixed. She may be part dalmation or roan?? The spots are really clear on her side but goes into the mixed color hair on top.
