I have not done so (nor do I even own a bunny), but I have seen instances of GP's and rabbits co-habitating. Just looking for some opinions on this.

Re: Live with a bunny? It is dangerous for them to live together or even "play" together. A bunny can give quite a powerful kick with those legs and feet of theirs, so much that it could seriously injure or kill a guinea pig. The best friend for a guinea pig is another guinea pig! (Of the same sex, or one being altered)

Re: Live with a bunny? Not only what mentioned above about hurting teh piggies, they have very different diets. Guinea Pigs need pellets with Vit. C and too much Vit C for a bunny would be very unhealthy and possibly dangerous, and if the piggies dont get enought of the Vit. C it is unhealthy and dangerous.

Re: Live with a bunny? Aside from the nutritional and physical hazards of life with a bunny...Bunnys can carry (not in the sense of genetic carry) bordetella and it will have minimal effects on a bunny where as bordetella in a guinea pig can cause a nasty URI or pneumonia and be quite fatal.

Re: Live with a bunny? Very bad idea, for all the above aforementioned. Just because you see other people smoking doesn't mean it's a good thing to do, in fact it might very well kill you. Same goes for keeping piggies and rabbits together (won't kill you - might kill the guinea pigs though!).

| Re: Live with a bunny? It's actually pasturella. All rabbits carry different forms of it. It doesn't affect them but it affects guinea pigs. Guinea pigs carry bordatella which can affect rabbits. Quote:

Re: Live with a bunny? That is a big no-no. You may see videos on You Tube or something with them getting along, and people may say, "Aww! That is so cute, I want my guinea pig to have a bunny friend!" Those people who make those videos have no clue that they are putting the guinea pig's life in danger!

Re: Live with a bunny? A little off topic, but my vet told me that all cats carry pasturella in their mouths. She said I should be cautious of my cat around my bunnies. Of course, my cat thinks she's a bunny and can't stand not to be near them. So if cats carry it, bunnies can carry it.....is it safe to have them in the same house with piggies? Because I have all three. Of course the piggies and bunnies are never allowed to play together....but they are in the same room. We put up their play pens side by side (with a foot between), so they can see each other. The bunnies watch the piggies a little...the piggies could care less about the bunns.
