Help my piggie

Hello everyone,

What a wonderful site, amazing to have found people with such enthusiasm for cavies as I have. I thought I was alone until I found this fantastic site. I look forward to becoming a regular contributor.

I have just started a piggie collection and have my first short hair ready to begin it's life in our household. He is beautiful and has a wonderful disposition. My problem is where to store him. My boyfriend says some ice wrapped in a towel in a cage will keep them cool , but I think that's in-humane and hasn't been the right thing by our gerbils. Can anyone recommend some good storage conditions that will see my piggie live a good and healthy life.

Thanks everyone.

Re: Help my piggie

Hi there,

I am pleased to read about you starting a stamp collection. As for where to best store your stamps, the primary thing you want to think about...

Oh, wait, you're not talking about a thing, you're talking about a pet! I got a little confused there with the terms "collection" and "store."

The best way to start your collection is by NOT starting one !

Re: Help my piggie

Hang on guys- I think that it sounds like the OP does not speak english as a first language. Please give them a chance to clarify before you jump all over them.

Re: Help my piggie

This whole site is dedicated to cages - take a look at the home page and you'll find the housing we recommend for guinea pigs. Then take some time to read the threads and stickies and you'll find most everything you need to know about caring/feeding your guinea pig.

If you're just starting out, I'd avoid a "collection" and perhaps start with a pair after you've done enough research to care for them properly.
Thank you Susan9608 for this useful post, says:

Re: Help my piggie

My first thought after reading the OP is the person's first language isn't English and they came over a little wrong.

However, if you come to a site dedicated to 'how to' house your guinea pig and then ask how to house your 'collection', well hmm, yes, dubious.

The OP is from Australia, in the Sydney area. They should be able to speak english quite well.
