Question Seeing In the dark?

Can piggys see in the dark? I was just wondering, I always feel bad to turn my lights off.

Re: Seeing In the dark?

I've often wondered that same thing... I've been told they can't, but I don't know for sure.

Re: Seeing In the dark?

I am fairly sure they have at least limited night vision. My wifes' piggies sleep most of the day and raise the roof alllllllll night long. virtual party piggies!

Re: Seeing In the dark?

I always wondered this as well. I think they can see at least somewhat in the dark. I have a little night light next to my piggies cage as well just in case. But I did notice that before I added the night light he didn't seem to have any trouble getting around in the dark.

Re: Seeing In the dark?

I'm convinced that they can see somewhat fairly well at night judging by the mess that I have to clean up every morning!

They sure are active at night considering the room is completely dark.

Re: Seeing In the dark?

My pigs get some light from the outside parking lights when I leave the blind's open. I do it just as much for me to so I can find the fridge late at night. I have never heard them bump into anything and will see them doing normal piggy things when I have get up at night.

Re: Seeing In the dark?

I leave a small light on in the room for my piggies, I feel guilty leaving them alone in the dark all night

Momma Nature certainly doesn't so, I think, neither should you. Although your pigs live indoors as human pets they still require some natural rhythm, like all living beings.

Re: Seeing In the dark?

I always wondered this but I get sleeping paralysis and lately it has been pretty bad so they have had the lights on dim anyway. I would rather actually though that they had dark for the night since that is how it is in the wild.

Re: Seeing In the dark?

I believe they can see in the dark better than we think. 6 days with no power convinced me of this.

Re: Seeing In the dark?

I think they can because they popcorn in the middle of the night and they need to see so that they do not bump into anything! Well at least mine popcorn at that time...
