That sounds like a happy sound to me. She is purring.

Re: What does this sound mean??

I know a lot of sites that say it is purring, but my two piggies do it when they are mad. Oreo does it while I clip her nails, or when Cookie runs into her. I'm not really sure though...

One of my boys will do that when I first pick him up and pet him. To me, he seems to like the petting. I consider it purring. Yours looked like she was enjoying it. She is very pretty!

Pretty sure that's a hey stop it sound. My boys do that sound when I get too close to their bottoms when rubbing them.

Re: What does this sound mean??

Mine do it when they are happy and cuddly. Maybe it means different things to different pigs.

Re: What does this sound mean??

I've been wondering about that. It is definitely happy when one of my piggies does it. She really stretches out and relaxes. I have another piggie that I'm not so sure about.

One piggie (the happy one) has a higher pitched purr. The one that I'm not sure about is lower pitched, similar to the video. She is very young and new to me, so I can't tell yet what it means. She nips and squirms a LOT when she is unhappy, so I'm leaning towards "happy" for her purring. It could mean annoyed though.

All my pigs let out a purr when I put them back in their cage. It is either "get lost human" or "happy to see my home and piggie friends". Hopefully it's the latter

That's funny because one of my guinea pigs used to do this every time I put him back into his cage. I could never figure out what it meant, but I tend to lean towards the side of, "FINALLY, I'm back home, now get lost!" ha

Ask 10 different people and get 10 different answers! My Tulip makes that sound every time I feed her. I think it's her way of saying "thanks, mom". To me, it sounds like a happy noise.

Yea thats what I was thinking.. everytime i pat in a certain way more towards the bottom she does that sound.

I assume the little soft squeeking means shes content at my patting..?

Re: What does this sound mean??

Mine make the soft squeaking / chattering all the time when I pet them or they get veggies. I think they're just saying they are happy!

They make that purring noise at eachother when they get crabby about something!

Re: What does this sound mean??

One of mine makes that lower noise when she hears stuff she doesn't like or when I get to close to her bottom when I'm petting her. But, I have been wondering if sometimes its a happy noise? Usually mine make soft squeaking noises when I pet them, so I hope that means that they are happy.

Re: What does this sound mean??

I have only had my girls for 2.5 weeks and they make that purring or almost buzzing sound and then raise up their bums, like they think there is a male around that wants to mate??? I am guessing they are only 7 to 8 weeks old, but thought they might be in heat??? I heard them do it to each other a couple of times in their cage and then they ran around sniffing their behinds. Could they be in heat? I know it is kind of weird, so was a little worried about it. Also, is there a place where I can learn more about their sounds? They are very talkitive and when seperated whistle to each other, so I try to keep them as close as possible until they get more used to their new home. Thanls

Re: What does this sound mean??

I'm not sure what the sound means, my 2 boys usually purr when they hear a sudden noise they don't like or are not used to.
