Question Rumble Strutting Little Madam

One of pigs always rumblestruts around Pepper(who is 2),she also mounts her aswell. She doesn't do it to the other pig who I think is the dominant one but always seems to do it to Pepper because she won't tell her off, Pepper will just sit there and let her annoy her. Shes only about 6 or 7 months old so it can't be Ovarian Cysts, can it?

Re: Rumble Strutting Little Madam

That is a young age to have ovarian cysts, but yes young sows do get them. My girl Zoro was diagnosed with ovarian cysts at only 4 months old.

Guinea Lynx :: Ovarian Tumors

Look for other signs of cysts, but please realize that not all sows have all symptoms. Both the girls I"ve had with cysts had atypical symptoms. They did not have hair loss or crusty nipples. They had pregnancy signs though.

Has your girl always acted like this or is it new behaviour? Acting very hormonal around their heat cycle is normal - if it lasts and lasts then it could be a sign of cysts. You might want to have her checked out if it persists and you are concerned.

Phew! Shes not doing it anymore. It may well have been one of her heat cycles. It went on for about a day and I think I have seen her do it before. Thanks for the info though
