Wicked's Update Thread I just thought I would come and post a complete update thread. This is mostly pig related but had a few rattie updates and other things too.. Starting with myself.. I am finally feeling better and excited again (about the upcoming pigger adoptions). I am taking 2 classes in college at the present time and the 3rd starts next Tuesday (12th)! I was pretty much broke from all the class/pigger vet expenses but I finally got my financial aid check in the mail! I was pretty much ready to run out and buy a ton of animal toys, but put most of it in the bank, instead. I might have to order the fishy cozy though.. ![]() Next onto the ratties. Both of the boys are doing super good. I can hardly believe they are already 3 months! Jasper has taken to sleeping on top of the water bottle, something that cracks me up every time I see it. He is actually up there right now. Daphne and Delilah are also doing really well. I got the KM's bluegrass in the mail the other day and I love it almost as much as they do! I am actually thinking about throwing out the other stuff. This hay is HEAVENLY! It is so soft and smells so good, like tea leaves. Trust me, buy this stuff, its the best! I feel like an infomercial, but its true! The add on part to the cage I made really works well. Daphne runs up and down like crazy. I think Delilah is just happy that Daphne is occupied so she doesn't mess with her so much. With the add on, it pretty much means that I can't get in my closet.. haha. I have taken to 'borrowing' the closet in my grandfathers office.. Most of you already know I am adopting two more piggers from Texas Rustlers.. (1 female, 1 neutered male). We made arrangements to leave next Friday night after I get off of work, stay the night, and pick them up around noon on Saturday. We should be home before 5pm. That should give me enough time to do intros in the bathroom while I am washing the fleece. Supposing everything goes smoothly I will let them all in the cage together around.. 10pm. If not.. I will set up a temporary divider in the cage until I can work something else out on Sunday.. The new piggers are about 2 years older than my girls. If anyone has introed 4 piggers, I would love to hear suggestions.. Another update.. We are still hoping to go on vacation this summer. I still haven't been able to book the boarding place because we haven't made exact reservations yet. It is horrible when you have to wait on other people to make up their minds. Hopefully they will still be available. We did decide that we will be flying, so we will only be gone a week, instead of two. I drew up plans for the room arrangements for the piggers and ratties.. The pigs cage would be 48in x 60in. The ratties will be in their regular cage. ![]() I also drew up a picture of my room with my cage in it.. I wish I could expand.. ![]() This is a pigture of the two piggers I am going to be adopting (6 days 15hrs!). Girlie on the left, boy on the right. ![]() I am going to be renaming them. I would love some name suggestions. The names must start with D and can't be Da, De, or Du. So far I like Divinci for the boy and Dot of Dory for the girl..

I'd be a little nervous about starting intros at 5pm. We started around 2 if I recall correctly and I was still pretty nervous about leaving them in the cage together overnight. They weren't fighting, but they weren't exactly buddy-buddy at that point either. We did make the mistake of separating them while we ate dinner, since I was afraid to leave them unsupervised at that point, which may have pushed things backward a bit. But, given that experience, in the future, I'd want to always start intros in the morning. I'd keep them separate Saturday and take the day Sunday to do the intros if you can. Good luck! |

Re: Wicked's Update Thread Congrats on the new additions to the furmily. How exciting! Introductions are more nerve wracking for us then for them. At least, I think so and I've done alot over the past few years. Rule of thumb-clean everything and introduce on neutral territory (like I know you know). You can always throw veggies into the introductions to help distract everyone. Also, if you can put all four into the setup at the same time. I also did this when I put them into the cage too. I had a few piggies and I'd have the kids put in a few too. That way they all get into the cage together. There will be teeth chattering, rumbling, nipping and such. I even have some that pull fur. As long as there's no blood, it'll be fine! And I always say it takes a good week (if not a bit longer) for everyone to work out who's who on the totem pole. Good luck and those are two lucky piggiers!!

Re: Wicked's Update Thread Thanks Jenn! I think I am going to bathe everyone separately than have my grandmother let Daphne and Delilah loose from one end and I will let the others loose from the other end.. I will dump a ton of lettuce and chopped up veggies.. and a stack of hay right in the middle.. Hopefully that will keep things under control for a while. Here are some cute pigtures of Daphne and Delilah.. Surprisingly Delilah was the most photogenic today! ![]() ![]() ![]()

Re: Wicked's Update Thread So great to hear that things are going so well with you, the ratties, and the piggers! And I'm so glad you are going to be able to come up here and pick up your new babies yourself. They are very lucky to have been chosen by you! ![]() Edit: Maybe I should copy you and make an update thread, too. Hmmm....

Re: Wicked's Update Thread Go right ahead! I felt like everything was really scattered around so I decided to kinda clump an update of everyone. I am currently at work, so no new pictures at the moment. I think I am going to do a photo shoot tonight. I am thinking about letting the girls have floortime in the bathroom and set out a tub of water. I bet they will have fun romping around and making a mess of the place. ![]() 4 days, 2 hours until we leave for Dallas. 4 days, 21hrs until we actually get the piggers! No one has name suggestions?

Re: Wicked's Update Thread Well Divinci certainly fits him so I really think you should go with that for him. For her, Dody, Domino, Doree, Doreen, Dori, Dorli, Douce (pronounced doche, sweet, french) or Dove. I like Domino and Douce most. edit: Ok I just went back and said them all together. Douce fits best I think. Daphne, Delilah, Divinci and Douce Daphne, Delilah, Divinci and Domino Daphne, Delilah, Divinci and Dori Last edited by TX_2_Pigs : 02-04-08 at 03:39 pm. Reason: adding

Re: Wicked's Update Thread Thanks Everyone, I really like Dove, I think I will add that to my top three girl name list. My top faves so far: Boy- Divinci; Girl- Dot, Dove, and Dory/Dori/Doree. Da (Daisy, Dafodil, etc) and De names (Dewey, etc) are not an option because my girls are already Da and De (Daphne and Delilah). Du names are also out because Dudley was my Du. EDIT: I just randomly searched plant names.. Dianella Dianthera Dianthus Dierama Diervilla Dietes Digitalis Digitaria Digitorebutia Dillenia Dimerocostus Dioon Dioscorea Diosma Diospyros Diotis Diotostemon Dipladenia Diplazium Dipogon Dipteronia Disanthus Disberocereus Discocactus Disocactus Distictis Ditremexa Dizygotheca Dolichos Dombeya Dorstenia Dorycnium Doxantha Draba Dracaena Dracontium Drejera Drimia Drimys Drosanthemum Dryas Last edited by wickedrodent : 02-04-08 at 05:23 pm.

Re: Wicked's Update Thread Funny, the moment I saw the pic of the boy I KNEW it was a boy even before Iread the caption! I must admit this is a stupid suggestion but I like Dunkin for the boy, he is just so chunky looking and reminded me of a doughnut! I LOVE the lemon agouti(?) patches on him! That is one of my favorite colors on a guinea pig! As for the girl, you should name her after my very first guinea pig, Dottie!!! And just to throw another D name in there, don't forget about the Di's! Something like... Dill or Dinky(not my best suggestion! )Last edited by catzeye21138 : 02-04-08 at 05:27 pm. Reason: adding

Re: Wicked's Update Thread Yeah, Dunkin is cute, but no Du names. I know I am being incredibly hard on the names.. but.. Da, De, and Du are already taken..Dottie is cute. Kinda a pet name for Dot.

Re: Wicked's Update Thread Ok, Wicked might cave.. I might decide to name them non-D names, but only if I find ones that really fit them (once I meet them) and names I really like.. I have been looking at so many name generators that I don't want to settle for a D name that I really really don't love.. Names I have liked.. Moonstone, Feather, Bellatrix (yes love4, I might have to copy you, haha), Saphira (yeah, from Eragon).. etc.. My usual scoring-- +Unusual +Mystical/Fantasy (+++++++) +Cool Meaning +Cool Spellings +Abreviations. (Jinx is sometimes called Jinxie, etc) -Common (fido, rover) -Human names (usually) +/-Double Names (depending) Like.. MarySue I don't like.. but.. Feather Nightwind.. Now that would be cool. I do have exceptions.. like.. Midnight is a pretty common animal name, but it is somewhat mystical so I like it.Anyway, yeah.. Give me your best shot. The more names, the better.
