Intros are going really well, so I am just listening closely while I am writing this. They are currently all eating veggies and hay in the floortime area.

Divinci and Delilah have seemed to kinda pair up. Very cute. Them big-boned pigs need to stick together. hehehe

Daphne and Do have had a few dominance squabbles, but not more than raised heads and chattering. Its funny that Divinci and Delilah (both weighing in at 3lbs) are on the bottom of the 'chain' when Do (being just under 2.5lbs and the smallest pigger in the group) is seeming to be the leader.

I am uploading more pictures (and a few videos) right now.. Here is what I have so far..

I don't know what happened.. Everything was going great and then Daphne started attacking everyone. No blood, so they are still together.. In their cage now.. Maybe things will be better since they have two levels to get away from each other.. *Fingers Crossed*

Hopefully they will calm down. I don't think I've ever had smooth intros. They always seem to squabble at first. And then the boys always go crazy mounting the girls. I'll cross my fingers that they all behave!

Funnily enough, there has been no mounting at all. Divinci and Do pretty much stayed to themselves since Daphne started attacking everyone. Delilah kept running around which made Daphne attack her more.. Things are better this morning, but there are clumps of fur all over.

Sorry it has taken me so long to update; I have been really busy catching up on classwork.

Piggers are doing great. Daphne finally calmed down and everything is going good. Everyone is sleeping at the moment.. Daphne on the bottom level, Delilah under the towel on the main level, and Do and Divinci in a hidey together on the main as well.

The rattie boys are doing good as well. Sleeping too.

I have been searching for a cheap new travel rattie cage or a gently used old one for when we go on vacation. I had been in the midst of buying a used martins cage from someone on the rat forum over Christmas break, but they went ahead and sold it to someone else. -sigh- No luck finding anything else I like so far. I might end up slurging and buying a small martins. Not sure yet.

I did run across this cage while I was searching. Its the coolest hamster cage EVER! If I could get one shipped here, I would probably buy it just because its amazing.



In other news (not pet related).. I officially hate English 1302. My teacher is Ms. Frizzle and not in the good way. I have a rough draft of a paper due today and I have about 1/2 of what I need done completed. We leave in 1hr to go to class. No way I can get anymore completed. Sad thing is- I don't care. I used to love English and this class is killing me. I have a dang 4.0 and I know there is no way I can keep it even with this class. I am going to have to retake it next semester with a completly different teacher.

Here is a picture of the rattie cage that I might get. Well, similar. Its 18" x 11" x 24" and would just be a main cage for 1 week while we go on vacation. I would get the power coated version with a fliptop lid. I mainly like this one because after vacation I can set it next to the computer so the ratties can be right next to me but still have a place to run/sleep.. It would be $68.

Also, I picked up Dudley's urn yesterday. It was really sad today when I was talking about where to place it and the girls heard his name and started wheeking like crazy.

About that hammie cage, i'm just thinking 'how on earth would you get your hamster out?!' , from what I can see there is only 1 door but i imagen the hamster would have fun .

Haha, yeah. I don't even have a hamster; I just think it is a really cool cage.

In other news- I am having ramp troubles. Daphne is the only one that uses it and it is driving me nuts. I know the pigs would have a lot more fun if they would have access to the different levels all the time. I have a towel and a piece of fleece on the bottom. Covering it (top) didn't help. It actually made it worse (Daphne wouldn't go up it). I tried adding strips width wise to make it have more traction, but it doesn't seem to work. No one even TRIES to go up the ramp!

It is 28in long (top part with orange towel) and 36in long (bottom part). It doesn't seem too steep..

Suggestions anyone? Please?

I would guess that the ramp is too steep for comfort. When I redid my girls' cage to make the upstairs bigger, I ended up using connectors and that made a very slight difference in the height of the top level, thus making the ramp a tiny bit steeper. I didn't think it was much of a difference, but the piggies were frightened of it and wouldn't use it. I took a small block of wood and put under the end of the ramp to make the ramp a little less steep and it worked!! Everyone uses it no problem now.

The other thing you can do is try to coax them up and down the ramp using veggies as a bribe. Once you get them to use it a few times, you might find they will use it on their own.
