Re: New member

Congratulations on your new pet!

You can get him a friend. Guinea pigs are very social and do better in pairs. But make sure the other guinea pig is the same sex so you don't end up with 100 babies. And please adopt from an animal shelter (I don't know if Hong Kong has these) instead of buying from a pet store.

He will become less shy with time. However some guinea pigs are naturally more shy than others. Make sure he has a safe place to hide and give him daily attention.
Try feeding him his vegetables one piece at a time instead of just putting them in his cage.

See the link below. It contains lots of useful information:

Re: New member

Thanks your information.

I forgotten to say, he is the 3rd cavy in my home. The other two are half years old now.

Re: New member

Hello and welcome! What sort of cage setup do you have? It will take him some time to adapt to his new environement so don't worry.

Re: New member

What is he shy and fearful of? You? Or the other guinea pigs? Does he hide all day or what? The more detail you give us, the easier it is to help you.

Re: New member

He doesn't hide all day. Just when he saw me walking near the cage, he starts to run and hide himself. I think he is living with their buddies in peace at all, sometimes he follows his buddies to have floor time also. However, his act very big contrast under affecting by the surrounding environment.

Re: New member

You just have to give him time, that's all--some need more than others.
