Finally Expanded the Cage Okay, it is really enormous, especially in my little one bedroom apartment. When I walk in, I'm overwhelmed by how much room it takes up, but it's worth it, because that's just how much I love my piggies. I went from a 2x4 with a 1x2 upper level to an open 2x6 for my three little pigs. I was approved for an adoption at This Little Piggy rescue in Cincinnati, but they have yet to respond to my email about setting up an appointment to come adopt. It's kinda sad that it's taken 2 weeks to respond to my email, but of course I'm being patient. I just hope the little girl I want is still there when we set up a time to come up and see the rescue. I got new fleece in the new cage, we added an extra hayrack and of course lots more room for the piggies to run around. I just wanted to share my hardwork because it took us 5 hours to do it. Mainly because everything kept going wrong, things were mis-measured, the lady at Joann Fabrics shorted us on fabric (so we have to go buy more for an extra change ). Here are some pictures, hopefully they came out okay. This was my first expansion of a cage and I must say it was easier this time around since we knew what we were doing, but things seemed to go wrong this time around because of the fleece and the coroplast being the wrong size. But we made it work. We still have a few things we wanna add, but for now, here it is! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I just wanted to share my first experience of expanding! I'm glad it got done and I know Clancy, Shelby and Layla all approve!

Re: Finally Expanded the Cage I was kind of sad because I thought there would be popcorns all around for HOURS. But the boy popcorned a few times, the girls just went straight for the hay and then went and passed out in their hideys. I know deep down they're really grateful, though!. :-D

Re: Finally Expanded the Cage Your cage looks really nice! Good job, I bet they love it! I am thinking about using cubes under my cage too. Could you tell me how high is the bottom of the actual cage? I have to build mine over a table because I don't have any other place to put it. Thanks.

Re: Finally Expanded the Cage Do you mean how high up the cage is? The actual cage is sitting on 2 grids on top of each other. So if the grids are what? 14 inches a piece, the cage is sitting up about 28 inches high, so about 2-2and a half feet up. Does that help?

Re: Finally Expanded the Cage That's right, auburn! Like I said, it takes up a LOT of space. It takes up all of my dining room, but I have sacrificed having a dining room so my piggies can be in the living room area with me when I'm watching TV and cooking. They love being near the kitchen so they can see EVERYTHING and to see if any veggies are around
