They seem to be doing well.. So, I finally put my pigs together. This morning. I know it was a little early, but I am pretty confident neither are sick anyway. Right now they are laying down together after alot of nose raising and humping. Still alot of rumble strutting going on. I also noticed this wheek that really almost sounded like a real pig.. :O I am happy that things are going very well. At first I was concerned that they were just humping eachother, one would get annoyed and lash out but all the humping seems to have stopped and things are settling down pretty fast actually. Together they are eating heaps of hay which is good because the baby wouldn't eat hay befor, and these pigs love their peppers, cilantro, parsley, and carrots!!

Re: They seem to be doing well.. I'm confused, didn't you just get your pig? Pretty sure I got my new guy a good bit before yours and they get to be introduced tomorrow.

Re: They seem to be doing well.. You really should have quarantined for a FULL 3 weeks at least. Guinea pigs are prey animals and hide their illnesses SO well that you could think they are perfectly healthy when in fact they are not.

Re: They seem to be doing well.. I knew I would of gotten this from you guys, which is why I was sort of unsure how to tell you all.. I know they can hide illness's. I am prepared for any possible illness's. There were a few reasons why I didn't wait including my dad saying that he no longer wanted baby pig in his room, and not downstairs as we didn't need all these pets downstairs and that he had to go in my room, I had no place to put him on my floor as one, it is incredibly messy, and two Chloe my dog has a gigantic set up that takes up 1/3 of the room. The only other place besides with Marshmellow would be either on the bottom of my bed, which wouldn't be a good idea, or underneath the window where there are drafts. So please don't keep on saying how I should of done a full quarentine. I know, I know, but I didn't and it's too late anyhow. And I got the pig a bit over a week ago, and Marshmellow had been quarentined two weeks from Caramel.

Re: They seem to be doing well.. I hate to sound rude, just concerned. You say you're prepared for illness but you know full well what happened with the last illness you had.

Re: They seem to be doing well.. I had a strong feeling that you wouldn't quarantine the full 3 weeks. I just hope for both of your pigs sake that Marshmellow doesn't have any dormant illness like the one that took Caramel and that your other pig is healthy. Good Luck.

Re: They seem to be doing well.. Thanks? Honestly, if you don't atleast any advice along with criticism, I would prefer not to pay attention to your post. I find the statement "I had a strong feeling that you wouldn't quarantine the full 3 weeks." pretty offending, so thanks.. I know I made a decision, and it may not of been the best one, I just have to wait and see. But if I didn't put them together, then I would of defiantly gotten the baby pig sick from the cold air that comes out from under the window.

Re: They seem to be doing well.. Well I am sorry if I offended you but with everything that you had said in previous posts about Marshmellow being miserable without Caramel I knew that it would be hard for you to wait the full 3 weeks. It's just an observation and obviously I was right. What's done is done and there is nothing that any of us can do about it. You are young and I am not going to get into an argument with you over it, it is yours and your parents decision, not mine. Again, I really am sorry if it is offensive to you. I am just concerned for your pigs. I really do hope that it all works out for you and I am happy that little Marshmellow is enjoying his new buddy. As far as advice for you...I would just say to weigh weekly, both pigs. It really does help to know what is going on. Every time I weigh my pigs and I see that they still weigh what they did the week before I feel so good. I know you have read it before but a drop in weight is often the first sign of illness. You can get a kitchen scale at any Target or place that sells kitchen supplies. Again, I apologize for offending you.

Re: They seem to be doing well.. Well you did do this last time and look what you ended up with. Honestly I don't understand why you would think you wouldn't catch any flack for this. You have seen first hand what can happen when you rush things. All I can do is shake my head. Here's hoping there isn't a thread posted saying "oh my god baby pig is sick and now I think Marshmallow is too" any time soon.

Re: They seem to be doing well.. It's okay. TX 2, that is not what happend last time at all. Neither pig were sick at the time and it began to show long after three weeks, even if I did quarentine, nothing would of showed up until after anyway.
