Help with dose Hi there, We saw a small bald spot on Hemingway's back last month. We thought he and Ziggy had had a fight. We have just come from Christmas time in Spain and now Hemingway has 2 scabs and Ziggy has another one. Hemingway also sratches himself more and loses more hair than before (he has always lost a lot of hair and now the heaters are on). We think they have mites but I upload a photo as we have been just half a year with them and we haven't seen mites before. We bought yesterday EASIMEC on Hyperdrug website (we have just moved to London from Edinburgh and we don't know any good vets here). Today, when we where going to treat them we realised that the med contains 0.5% of Ivermectin and the dosage in Guinea Lynx is calculated with 1%. Shall we give them the double of the dose as our med has just the half? Also, how often do we have to clean the cage to prevent mites from jumping again on our piggies? This is driving us craizy and we are really worried. Thanks very much Laura and Andy

Re: Help with dose Guinea Lynx :: Dose Calculator If you go to this dose calculator, you will see there is a spot for Ivermectin Topical 0.5 Pour-On%Sol You can also read here about 0.5% Pour On Solutions of Ivermectin: Guinea Lynx -- Topical Ivermectin Treatment Be absolutely positive about how much ivermectin your product contains and what dose you are giving your piggies. Any doubt - consult a vet!! You should clean your cage thoroughally when you treat with ivermectin. You should dose your piggies at least 2-3 times, about a week apart. Mites are always on your piggies - but they remain dormant until something like a time of stress brings them out. I am no pro on being able to tell you if that photo looks like mites or something else. You are always best advised to see a vet to be sure of what you are dealing with. Mite treatment won't hurt them if they don't have mites - but you may end up leaving another condition untreated.

Re: Help with dose Thanks very much for your help. I'll give them the medication for the mites and if they don't get better during this week I'll take them to the vet. Anyway, I need to find a vet as soon as posible in case they get ill. Laura
