Question socialization

Hello! I have a question about my new piggies. I have them in a temporary home (a big blue kiddie pool) while building their new cage. I have three different hiding places in the pool because I have two children that like to walk past the cage to check on the piggies. I want them to feel safe and secure. My question is why do my two piggies avoid each other all the time? They sleep in different hiding places, eat at different times, and basically avoid each other all day and night. Is there something I can do to make them more bonded?

They are piggies. Most piggies are like this. Most do not cuddle in one hidey or bed together. They may become more bonded over time but they may never sleep in the same place together.

Re: socialization

None of my piggies are bonded to any other piggie - and I have 12 of them!! I have never witnessed what some people talk about when their piggies bond and sleep and eat and do everything together. None of mine are like that. They get along fine - but they each have their own space.

I guess it depends on the personalities of the piggies. I don't really know as there's anything you can do to try to make them more bonded. Just be happy they get along and don't fight!!

Re: socialization

How big of a C&C cage are you building? Do you have boys or girls? I'm just being curious.

Re: socialization

I have 2 females (Nibbler and Abby). There new home will be made of those shelving unit grates from Target. I have a shortage of space right now, but there cage is going to start in the livingroom and wrap around the wide doorway into the dinning room. There are nine cubbies for storage at the bottom, and the first level is 9 square feet. As soon as I get back to Target I will be finishing of the cage with a second level on each side that will consist of 2 square feet each side and a possible mid level in the front of the cage. The plans are on hold right now until I get more cage grates. I am so excited about their new home.
