Vet checkup

So I brought Marley and Bean to the vet this morning - Marley is definitely preggers - I'm ready to deal with this and I'm going to do as much as I can and hopefully all will go smoothly. I have a list of 24/7 vets in my area in case anything goes wrong - but it's very possible I won't even be here when she gives birth. So in that case I'm hoping nature takes its course and I'm just hoping for the best.

Now I don't know if any of you will agree with what the vet did about the mite situation - he seemed very informed and does work with exotic pets - he swabbed the ear to check for mites (under a microscope) and said that mites live in the ear, not on the body, that it's a different type of mite that lives on the body and that if it had mites it would be itching and going nuts all the time, mine aren't like that at all. So he didn't do any mite treatment, but found that Bean had a tiny ear infection, so I have drops that I will be giving, one drop in each ear once a day. I told him if I found they kept itching (as they do itch every now and then, but a little bit more than what I would think was normal) that I would bring them back in the next 2-3 weeks to get the mite treatment. He said that was a good idea.

He said they were both looking fine and healthy. So.... I mean everything seems good. (And it all came to $50 for everything, not too bad)

I just went to the store and got them bell peppers (green and yellow), more romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes (these are okay to give, right?), and cucumber.

He said Marley should be giving birth within the next 3-4 weeks.

I also just called Petco and politely but firmly told the manager my dissatisfaction on their part to not realize they had a pregnant sow in their cage, but told them I should have known better to not buy from a store, reminded them of their bad reputation, said they should be a little more aware of these things -- the lady was actually friendly and understanding, she agreed with me about everything I said -- I don't know what else to do, but I had to let them know. And at the very least I'm glad she was open to listening because I was expecting to get someone on the phone that was snobby and irrational.

So that's the update. I'll be giving the ear drops for two weeks and just keeping my fingers crossed all goes smoothly with the pregnancy. Please keep Marley in your thoughts! Thanks.
