Impatient

Well, I've finally gotten the okay from my mom to buy a companion for my boar(I would like to adopt, but there are no nearby guinea pig-carrying shelters), but I'm so impatient. The litter of piggies isn't available for two more weaks as they're weaning them off of the mother, so I have to wait two whole weeks. It's unbearable. And aside from that, I can't complete my C&C cage for another week or so because they need to order in more coroplast, and my mom doesn't want the cage up until 'after the holidays'. Ergh, the phrase 'after the holidays' is really beginning to tick me off. Oh wll, you didn't need to read this, I was just impatient and I needed to vent. I'm so anxious!

Re: Impatient

That's awesome that you can get another one!

You'll need a cage for quarantine, as well.

If you really need help finding some, pm me with your location and I'll try my best!

Re: Impatient

I already have two cages from the pet store, and one is super big for the baby, just not for a full-grown. I figured that since it was only two weeks he'd be fine in that cage for a little while. I'm so excited to introduce Cocoa to his new friend though! I just pray it works out fine and they don't fight again. That was a mess.

Re: Impatient

Ok, that's good as a temporary home. Hope that everything goes well! Any luck finding more, or will you wait for the babies?

Re: Impatient

I'm just going to wait for the babies. I checked yellow pages, cavyrescue, and pet finder, and all of the shelters are so far away, so I guess I'll just have to wait. It's a shame.

Re: Impatient

Northern Suburbs, near Chicago. I have a question that maybe you could answer, it wasn't getting answered on the C&C board. If you build a two level cage, do you need extra support, or is just the grids enough?

Re: Impatient

I totally understand where your coming from on having trouble finding piggies!! i've been looking for some for awhile and just couldn't find any. I DON'T want to go to petsmart!! and i've finally found a lady who's trying to get rid of hers but i'm not even for sure that she's serious. and if she is i have to drive 3 hours to pick them up. It will be worth it though.

Re: Impatient

Nope, not near Evanston, I'm in the Mount Prospect/Des Plaines/Arlington Heights area. At least I don't think it's near Evanston. Sorry, map skills stink.

Re: Impatient

The bad thing is that there are almost no shelters around here that carry small animals other than in LibertyVille( 2 hours away) and other places more than one hours away.

Yeah. Maybe you could try posting in the adoption section and see if anyone knows of anything close to you.

Re: Impatient

Have you looked on www.craigslist.org? Or other classifieds? Or contacted the piggy rescue in Chicago? http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/IL98.html

There are a few in the classifieds section. Is Aurora or Long Grove near you?

Is there a rabbit rescue near you? They may have piggies or know of someone. Have you posted on www.guinealynx.com placement?
