Smile Does it take awhile?

I'm having a hard time getting my piggies to get used to their ramp. Its sturdy and strong, and soft under their feet....I've put food all the way up if, and that got them to go up. But once they got up there, they wouldn't come down! What can I do to get the up and down thing to be a constant without always having to coax them? Any ideas?

Re: Does it take awhile?

Try adding sides to the ramp. That will make them feel more secure.

Re: Does it take awhile?

I don't think I need to anymore! Woke up this morning and they are running back and forth from top to bottom on their own! Guess they just needed some time! Thanks critterlover for your reply!

Yes Re: Does it take awhile?

. I was having the same problem with my ramp. It just took a couple days for him to get use to it. Now he runs up and down it like its a race .

Re: Does it take awhile?

My guinea pig still doesnt use his ramp at all he seems perfectly happy on the bottem maybe its too steep or something. I have a towel on it for traction and it has sides. But it doesn't seem too sturdy how do i add extra support to it? Its made out of coroplast.

Re: Does it take awhile?

That's great! They always seem to go down rather than up.

Re: Does it take awhile?

Dagwellismypiggy, how about adding another layer of coroplast? And try only putting their veggies up top. How's that for motivation?

Re: Does it take awhile?

Along with putting their veggies up top - try also lining veggies up the ramp a bit so they have to climb a little each time to make it to where the big stash is !
