odd question, petting abby

I always read that pigs hate to be pet against the grain of their fur.

How on earth do you pet an abby? Very carefully?

My aunt's abby's don't like to be pet, so much as they just love to be scritched behind their ears and under their chin. My aby-peruvian is pretty much the same way, except he's now loving it when I give him a face "massage", he just melts.

My guinea pig that just died recently is the only guinea pig that I've ever owned, or known of that enjoyed and would purr to no end if you would pet her against the grain.

My abby (AJ) loves being petted.(I pet him against his fur). I just basically pet him straight down his back.

Chewie, my aby, also hates to be petted, but he does love chin rubs and head rubs, I usahlly just scratch him on the head or chin.

Rosie is an abby. I generally brush in the way that her rosettes go, then where there are no rosettes I brush with the grain of her hair. It takes me alot longer to brush her hair than any of the other girls, especially considering how fussy Rosie is.

Our abby (Prissy-our avatar pig) didn't like being petted against the grain.

We would stroke her hair in the individual rosettes in the direction the hair grew. She liked that and would relax and just melt into a piggy puddle when we did it.

My abby x sheltie has some hair going backwards and only has two rossettes so he is easy, my other man I believe is a full abby has four rosettes and doesn't seem to llike it much..But I can do it carefully.

Ben is my first pig and an Abby, I brush him going the direction of his fur.
The moment I pick him up and hold him against my chest he makes soft piggy sounds and seems to enjoy me holding him, however Jerry my peruvian doesn't like his back petted, just his head but if I give him a little time, he comes around and enjoys being petted, it takes him a while to warm up to me...weird.
