Poop Machine!

To get the cubes I had to order through walmart.com and do a site to store delivery. So for right now my poor boy, Peanut, is still in a pet store cage until I can get the C&C one built.

I decided to do slow changes on the guy, so today I put in the fleece bedding after getting the idea from this great site. I've also increased the amount of veggies he's been eating thanks to the advice on this site, so that could have something to do with it.

Since taking out the carefresh and going fleece I have discovered what a little poop machine my little boy is. I've cleaned the cage out 3 times already today. A bigger cage will be easier to clean I realize. It's normal poo, so he's not sick at all. I am just amazed at how much can come out of such a little body.

I switched the rat cage over to fleece as well earlier today. I am getting them a new cage as well, so I didn't make a sewn thing yet, just a piece of fleece over wash clothes. Hopefully they will leave it down to make cleaning easier and not have a blast tossing the clothes around.

Re: Poop Machine!

He'll be a lot happier in a big cage! How big are you going to make it? Fleece is great stuff to use. We have a mattress pad underneath the fleece to soak up everything, then we just throw it in the washing machine about every 3 days.

They are quite the little poopers. We got ourselves a 2 gallon wet/dry vac from Sears and it works perfectly for vacuuming poops every night. Makes quick work of it!

I agree, they will be happier in their new cage.
Fleece is great. I love it because it's easy to do pick up the poop and you can wash it!

I agree. Fleece is amazing. I realized what a HUGE poop machine even my little Bridget is! Her cage is due for a full cleaning tomorrow. I am going to actually buy more fleece tomorrow as well.

Re: Poop Machine!

I saw a really great corner design on here I was going to copy for my cage. It was something like 2x3 on one leg and 2x2 on the other. I'm not sure how to make a top for that one though. If I figure out the top I'll do the corner design. I have a cat and a overly playful dog I have to protect the little guy from.
