New Piggie!

Hey! Im New To This Site But Ive Been Looking Here For Awhile. My Guinea Pig Seems To Just Stay In His Little Home. This is His Second Night And He Is More Livley And Occasionaly He Will Come Out Of His Little House. He Is Eating And Im Glad Because Before He Wouldnt Eat Nor Drink. He Is Scared If I Walk By Or Near The Cage. When I Pet Him He Will Occasionaly Purr And Make A Squeak. I'm Not Sure What This Squeak Means Or What He Is Trying To Tell Me. But When He Squaks He Seems To Be Happy And Walk (While I'm Scrathing/Petting Him) And Try To Sniff Something. I Have A Little Level For Him To Go Up To But He Wont Go On The Ramp. Im Sure He Is Still Setteling In. Any Suggestions On Helping Him Setlle In Or Geting Used To Me Or The Ramp. Help Would Be Much Aprreciated. Ill Try To Get A Pic Or Two Up Soon. Hunter (My Little Guinea Pig) And I Thank You All.

P.S. My Cage Is A 2x3 Cage And Im Looking To Expand And Get Him A Little Friend In There.

-Thanks!

Re: New Piggie!

Congradulations on your new piggy! I am so happy that you are looking to expand his cage and get him a buddy!! He will be so much happier that way. My 2 boys have lived together successfully since they were just a few months old. (They will soon be 5 years old.) They are now in a 2x5 C&C, with basically 2 of everything so they won't be as territorial over things.

I am really glad you took the time to browse around this site and get some pigger education before getting your new pig. As for him being afraid and hiding a lot, they are prey animals so a lot of pigs will always be a little jumpy by nature. But it's only his second night, give him some time. Before you know it he will be coming up to the front of the cage, wheeking at you demanding veggies. I love that about my boys, they're definately not shy any more, LOL.

And lastly..... we must see pigtures!

Re: New Piggie!

Its Hunters 4th day. He is much more *livley*. He will come out and eat but when i walk by he will immediatly dart to his cage. He is still making some sqeak noise. Im pretty sure that its not a "bad noise". He will be eating or being pet while he makes it. Still working on "Pigtures" will have em up soon. If you have any suggestions please say so.
