Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I have heard a lot of people talk about giving a "buddy bath" to help their gp's bond. Can anyone tell me a little bit more about this. I thought that it is best not to bathe the gp's. Also, would you bathe all of them (I have 3) at once or just the two that don't get along? I am having dominance issues. Two of them get along and hang out and the other one is a loner. One guinea pig is dominant and mean. I would love for them to get along better. |

Usually you dont do buddy baths unless blood has been drawn. If you were to do it you would bath all 3 guinea pigs following the instructions on Cavy Spirit http://www.cavyspirit.com/sociallife.htm#Introductions. You will have to scroll down a bit. |

Are they fighting or are you just worried because one is a loner? |

If they are currently getting along, a buddy bath isn't warranted. It's not likely to help your pigs get along any better than they do now. Why put them through all that for nothing. If they aren't dirty and are getting along well enough already, it's better to let them continue on as long as there is no bloodshed. |

One of my three guinea pigs, Flash, is an outcast. The other two, Earl and Jack Bower hang out in the same area of the cage. Earl picks on Flash and I hear him screaming for help all of the time!! Earl is mean. There hasn't been blood drawn unless I just haven't seen it happen but Flash's quality of life is not as good as it could be! I just feel like Flash needs a friend or maybe I should seperate him and get him a buddy!!! |

Dont separate them. How old are they? If they are going through puberty it is probable that this is the cause of the "bickering" and that with time it will settle down. I really dont see the need to separate them, Flash is just protesting, if their was blood you would have seen it. Getting another buddy is not really advisable at this point in time in my opinion. Personally I would moniter them, I defiantley wouldnt separate them unless blood was drawn and would wait awhile before getting a buddy. |
