crazy pig One of my females has started rumblestrutting-rumbling and swaying. I thought only males did this. She was so proud of herself she popcorned really high several times. You should have seen it!! Silkies popcorning are funny enough because of the flowing hair but she really threw her heart into it. She has also today rumbled around any pigloo the male is in, maybe exerting her dominance. He is normally a nightly rumblestrutter, every night around 8pm he starts up. I saw the baby(well shes a year) give it a try but she didn't seem to think it was as fun. I think she was just being a copycat/pig. Does anyone else have girls that do this?

Re: crazy pig My girls rumble, especially Regan my dominant pig. They also mount eachother. It seems to be mainly about asserting dominance, but I'm also keeping an eye out to make sure it isnt indicating any other problems. If you read my thread entitled Female Mounting, you can read about how the whole situation came about and how other people responded to that also if you like.

Re: crazy pig I haven't had any mounting so far. Just rumbling. Teddy's taking a nap so the other two are chutting around the cage. I guess they are happy to get a break from her rumbling and swaying.

Re: crazy pig My girls rumble around the cage when they are in heat. They dont' usually try to mount each other, but many females do this as well. I've also had two females in whom constant rumbling indicated hormonal problems (ovarian cysts). If it happens about once every 16 days or so, and only lasts a few days at a time, it's probably her heat cycle. It can also be dominance of course. Just keep an eye out that it's not constant.
