Not Ranked. Helpful AND tactful post? : 0 I am trying to find Ivermectin.. I found it at a feed store but they only sell it in a large quanity such as for cattle.. How do you find a small amount to treat piggies.. I also read somewhere that you can get Ivermectin paste or cream at walmart.. Would the cream/paste be just as good as the injectable kind found at feed stores? Thanks for any input.. Julie Last edited by luvourpiggies; 09-22-07 at 01:32 am. Reason: Mis-spell |

I buy my paste from Wal Mart. It is in the horse section and comes in a small long box. I have used it more than once for my pigs. You need a 1cc sryinge. and a kitchen scale that can also be bought at Wal Mart. You weigh the pig and give the dose per weight. Most of my pigs get just under .20 or abit above .20 You mix 250 of the paste with water or oil. I use water. The mixture cannot be saved when mixing with water. Put it in the sryinge and give to your pig. Then 7-10 later you start all over again. The tube has a marker so you go down in increments by 250. Also on Guinea Lynx is a site that tell you all aboout and how to measure by the weight of your pig. Hope that helps You can get a syringe at a pharmacy. Or if you have given antibiotics the sryinge the vet gives you is marked. It would just need to be washed out Last edited by suzilovespiggie; 09-22-07 at 02:28 am. Reason: add |

We get our Iver-On Pour-On Ivermectin (5mg ivermectin/mL) at TSC (Tractor Supply Company). It comes in an 8.5 oz. bottle. That seems like a lot, but with four piggies that need treated a couple of times a year, it's not too much at all. The weight/dose chart we use is: Topical Ivermectin Treatment It's for the injectible and/or pour-on ivermectin. Both are used topically (on the skin behind the ears) instead of injected. No needle is used at all, just a syringe for measuring the dose according to weight. |

You do need the needle to get the ivermectin out of the bottle. But that is all it is used for. You don't want to remove the rubber on the bottle because this is what keeps the ivermectin sterile. The rubber is self-sealing so just pull the needle out and rinse it when you are finished. I also got my ivermectin at Tractor Supply. Here is what I have: |
