I picked up a hidey house today to clean and saw 3 dead babys. I ran away, my boyfriend threw up. OH my God. I am so upset. Puppys babys. Her poor babys. I was so looking forward to them. Maybe I could have saved them if I was there. I dont know what to do. Oh my God. 3 Babies, 2 still like fetuses, one more formed. I didnt look for very long. That pet store, she was too young to be pregnant. Im very upset.

I guess so I have no idea, they didnt look like fully formed GPs, like has been described, maybe one was but noone was there to open the sack. I didn't look very long. I was in shock.

Sweetie, I know you feel like its your fault, but its really not!

I had the same problem. Dolce was actually too OLD to have babies. She had 3 babies, 2 stillborn and the runt survived. If they were still in the sack, that meant spider pig didn't take it off and they suffocated, she was young and scared and probably didn't know what to do.

Its ok though. Just wanted to let you know, I felt the same way with mine. Luckily I have one beautiful baby, Cali who is growing like a weed. But things will be ok :-)

yeah 2 were much smaller then 1. I wish I was there, maybe I could have helped.

Yeah, I was freaking out and crying at first, and desperately searched my room because we hadn't baby-proofed, and found my little miracle piggie, Cali. I kept thinking it was going to happen. I couldn't fall asleep that night because I felt like those babies were coming. I fell asleep at about 3, and I think she had them at 4. I knew it was gonna happen but I fell asleep. But its ok, just think, if you were going to keep them, you now have 3 more to adopt...and if you were going to give them away, there are now 3 more recuse piggies who can have a home. So even though 3 little piggies dies, 3 more have been saved :-)

we were going to keep them all. Dont tell me that, now what if theres a newborn GP running around my house (the cage was in the living roon and this coulda happened anytime between last night in this morning) and I'll find him dead somewhere =(

No sweetie, 3 is the normal litter! You're surely fine! had you baby-proofed? Even if you didn't, 3 is standard! And Cali was hiding right by the cage between it and the wall staying close to mama. So, if one escaped it would stay close I think. I didn't mean to worry you, I'm sorry.

She is okay. I should have realized earlier that she was so much smaller. She seems to be okay that is. I didnt even notice, I was just puttering around the cage after we came home from my daughters dance class, and I lifted the hidey house and started screaming. I feel bad because I think I scared my daughter. She was like 'why are you crying mommy'.

My boyfriend brought me in the other room and said Ill take care of it, then I heard him wretching and eventually vomiting.

I just cleaned out the entire cage, fleece and all, to try to help the smell. I am going to get my male neutered ASAP so they can all live together. And maybe pick up just one more. I feel so bad. This sounds horrible but I hope that there isnt one running around the house. I dont think so because I think they are all premature.

And I had not baby proofed yet, as she was not due untill late September/Early October. She came to us, most likely pregnant already, on 8/2

And 3 is supposedly the best sized litter too ("The best you can hope for is 3"), I have read. More and the babys will be too weak, less and she will have a hard time giving birth to them because they will be too big.

Well, I'm sorry that you had to go through that! But now you have room in your home for another rescue piggie or two :-) I know its dissapointing, because I was looking forward to my babies! Hope everything goes well for you.

I was getting so excited for them. I ordered cuddle-cups yesterday.

I just put them in a old cell phone box with some hay. One of them was fully formed, The other 2 not at all. There were 2 other "lumps", which I dont think were fetuses. I'm going to bury them in my moms yard.

No 3 is often too many for a pig that young. She couldn't feed the last 2 properly so they didn't grow right compared to the 3rd one That then probably caused issues with giving birth and the last one ended up not making it either. They also could all still be premature from her being too small and young to carry that many full term. I doubt there's anything you could have done especially with 2 of them not being fully formed. Even with special care all the premature babies we've tried to save would go into seizures and die a week or 2 later.

I'm so sorry, that must have been so upsetting to find *hugs* Please don't blame yourself, she was just too young and it is not your fault.

Do you have a cavy savvy vet that could give Puppy a check over and make sure she is definitely okay? I am so glad she didn't have complications herself as well as her poor babies, I've heard of far too many momma's who didn't make it too.

I'm so sorry to hear this happened ortal!!! I know how excited you were about the babies.

I know it's very sad to lose the babies, but please try to be grateful you still have Puppy. I agree that you should take her to the vet to be checked over to make sure she is ok.
