Unhappy I know..

I know this is a cat story... but it inspired me to come home and do EVERYTHING I could to make my guinea pig happy...

I work at a gas station, and about 9 in the morning some woman said she thought she heard a cat in the bushes, I looked but didnt find anything, so I thought she was crazy. At about 3:30 I was cleaning the pumps and heard it too... 7 hours guys, I feel so bad. Anyway I find a little black kitten, about Karmas age, shoved into the tippity top of one of the bushes. My guess is that she was abandoned... because she was scared.... but tame. I put her down and she ran in the small brush outside of the store and kept crying. I got food and water for her so I could take her home after my shift. But my coworker came back 10 minutes after leaving and said she must have gotten up under his car... Because on the highway he heard clawing and scratching, then watched as she jumped out... and got hit by the car behind him... Broke her neck, and there were burns all over her from the engine. I feel so sad... so GUILTY. I should have called off and taken her home immediately. I got home and held My cat for a while, then I looked at Zephyr in his petstore cage for a minute before calling around.. then logging onto this site..

Re: I know..

I'm sorry, what a sad thing to experience. When I was a child, my cat crawled up into my neighbor's car and stayed there until they parked at a grocery store. She didn't jump out until the car stopped, and I was VERY lucky to still her her around. Unfortunately, she eventually died by drinking gasoline water that had been left outside. My dog jumped the fence once and was hit by a car, and she just barely survived. The outdoors can be a dangerous place for cats and dogs, and now I keep all of mine indoors. Those types of experiences definitely make me appreciate my pets so much more!
